Cycle Challenge Current

We invite you to join The Grand Canyon Cycling Challenge which is one of the major fundraising projects in 2006 for The Children's Medical & Research Foundation at Our Lady's Hospital for Sick Children.
The beauty and size of The Grand Canyon humbles us.  Its timelessness provokes a comparison to our short existence.  In its vast spaces we may find solace from our hectic lives.

Who can join our Grand Canyon Cycling Team?
Our Grand Canyon Cycling Challenge Team is open to people over 18 years of age.  Whether you are a fast or leisure cyclist, we'd like you to join.
If you enjoy the simple pleasure and challenge of cycling, getting to know a beautiful place, or making new friends, then we can provide the elements which can add up to an unforgettable experience.
If you are an enthusiastic team person, then this event is for you.  The key is to have the ability to enjoy and share the experience with the other participants.

Your Requirements

• Meet with a Development Officer to discuss the event
• Complete your Official Registration Form & pay deposit
• Raise a minimum of €5,000 prior to departure

Accommodation

The Little America Hotel is located in Flagstaff, which is approx 100 miles north of Phoenix, set on 400 acres with all the facilities one could ask for.  Nestled below the San Francisco Peaks at an elevation of 7,000 ft, Flagstaff has spectacular scenery.  It is a bustling university town, with people known for their friendliness.  Route 66, celebrated in music, literature and film, runs right through the town centre.  Sedona, a scenic wonder set in the Oak Green Canyon is within easy reach of Flagstaff.  This most scenic tourist town is full of shops and restaurants.

• The event is a Challenge which we expect everyone to honour
• You must do either the 40 mile (65k) or 60 mile (100k) Cycle on each of the 5 days
• You can carry out the challenge at your own pace
• You must fulfil your obligation to your sponsors
• Advance training is essential
