The National Children's Research Centre is the leading source of paediatric research and discovery in Ireland, seeking new approaches to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of childhood and adult diseases, and aiming to educate the next generation of leaders in child health.
As a result of your continued generosity, the Children’s Medical & Research Foundation has directly funded the NCRC since its foundation and continues to do so with its most recent capital grant enabling the creation of 50 state of the art bench spaces in an entirely modernised and dedicated facility.
The lab is designed to the highest standards and includes state of the art lab equipment enhancing our internationally acclaimed researchers’ abilities to facilitate groundbreaking research in the areas of congenital defects of the gut, enteric bacterial infections, childhood cancers and neonatal immunity.
Thanks to you, today the NCRC has expanded beyond it’s long standing relationship with Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and is actively involved in research activity with other hospitals throughout Ireland and indeed, abroad. A very significant element of its increasingly broad view of Irish Paediatrics, the Centre has agreed partnership arrangements with UCD, TCD, RCSI and is currently grant-aiding a major international project with UCC . The partnerships are mutually beneficial for the Universities and the National Children’s Research Centre providing a platform for the sharing of physical resources, people and creativity in terms of bench spaces, networks, academic and institutional structures and appointments as well as the potential for joint funding applications. The team of the National Children’s Research Centre consists of Investigators, Physicians, Surgeons, and Scientists, other professionals including technicians as well as students and trainees.
These significant partners and alliances are designed to ensure a vibrant future in paediatric research in Ireland with the NCRC being playing the vital catalyst role.Already the National Children's Research Centre has had a vital part in developing new investigative skills and techniques among our young paediatricians and providing our consultant staff with the facilities for applying the remarkable strengths of modern biology and technology to the health care needs of children.
