Research

Quality research leads to fewer sick children and less serious illnesses. It also means many lives saved. Today, the National Children’s Research Centre is the only 100% dedicated children’s research facility in Ireland and it is funded in its entirety by the generosity of our donors.

Sometimes it can be hard for people to understand the value of medical research. It’s really only the children we treat, and their parents who get to see the benefits first hand. To them research can mean improved treatments, less painful and quicker procedures, new medicines, and sometimes it can even mean the difference between life and death.

Today the world acclaimed centre is working hard on key areas such as cancers, congential malformations, certain gastrointestinal diseases, obesity as well as the reason why young children’s immune systems are not fully developed.  We have attracted some of the world’s brightest scientists and experts to join the team. Our researchers are collaborating and working closely with experts in some of the best children’s hospitals in the world. To achieve even better and speedier results,we are partnering with three universities.

No child wants to attend hospital. Research and prevention are the keys to a better future for our children. To read more about the projects your money funds,  go to www.nationalchildrensresearchcentre.ie or request our case for support on 1890 507 508.
